My brother was left in charge of my deceased fathers estate. My father was dying of cancer in 2008 and past away in June of that same year and did not get a chance to file his 2007 taxes. We later filed for him and are now left with paying back 14,000 dollars plus IRS penalty charges of over 6,000 dollars and we have not filed his 2008 taxes yet. We understand that his taxes have to be paid but the IRS late penalty charges are unreal. Is there any way that we can work with the IRS to reduce these late penalty charges especially since the person is deceased.
