     Penalties often constitute a huge portion of a person or individuals tax liability!  They can rack up very quickly. 

      People can often pay their taxes and the interest, but penalties may make it very difficult to settle the tax liability.

      Penalties can create a huge increase in the amount you owe to the IRS.  For example, with employment taxes, the IRS adds on 5% per MONTH for 5 months if the returns are not filed. In addition they add on 1% per month of interest.  These charges run up your account balance very quickly.

     Fortunately, there is a way to get rid of the penalties!  The procedure is called Penalty Abatement.  If you have reasonable cause to have the penalties abated, you may be able to get them removed, leaving you a much more manageable balance owed to the IRS.
