My husband and I need some advice as what to do. We found that our CPA was not filing our taxes for several years and now we are in need of counsel. I did notice that you have an office in Abilene, TX and we are live an hour away. Please let me know if you can help. There is much more that I need to share as the above is only part of our problem. We would appreciate any advice you can give.

Dear Sirs,
I received a notice from the IRS that a credit card company turned in an unpaid debt that they had written off and turned into the IRS as additional income. The IRS is demanding that I pay tax on the amount that was turned into them as income. The IRS says the credit card company sent me a 1099 denoting that they had written off the debt. I never received any such notice. The IRS advised that I contact the credit card company to seek clarification. I have not called the credit card company, as I want to take the proper steps to ensure that this handled in my favor. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Please reply via my email address. (I reside in the state of Texas.)

I'm wondering if your firm handles tax protests in Nolan County Tx and whether you handle cases involving mineral rights only.

The only thing my siblings & cousins & I inherited from our grandparents is a meager oil royalty from the played-out oilfield that once was the family farm. Grandmother's estate was settled, at least nominally (there are still issues), two years ago and we have all just received tax appraisal notices from Nolan Cty telling us that we owe taxes on our mineral rights that threaten to take a noticeable bite out of our humble royalty checks.

Please note; we are not the fat cats with steer horns mounted on the hoods of Cadillacs; we are one generation removed from sod busters with outhouses, our royalty is divided by 15 and this tax is a significant issue for us working class folk. I am concerned about our inability to travel to Nolan Cty for the hearing and your fee on a percentile contingency might not impress you much.

Otherwise I would like to know if you can point me to someone in Sweetwater or Abilene who might handle our tax protest.
